Effective Personal Productivity is an 8 week program designed to maximize your potential to accomplish important goals by changing the way you spend your time. We give you the tools to:

Effective Supervisory Management

Leadership, good or bad, is the ability of an individual to plan, organize, lead and monitor organizational resources.  Results of leadership are limited by only two factors, their capacity and their actions.  Without question, an individual manager’s actions are the more influential of the two.

Effective Supervisory Management is a 10 – week program focusing on developing the core skills required of any great manager of people, particularly to...align, engage, enable, develop and collaborate.  Effective Supervisory Management establishes a firm foundation for good supervision practice, rethinking effective behaviors that are focused on results and not activity management.  Skills to be developed would include:

  • Human Relations & Communication, the ability to work with and through people to attain results.
  • Planning & Scheduling, insuring important commitments are kept on a consistent and dependable basis.
  • Time Management, allowing the leader and team to focus on high priority activities, enhancing performance and increasing productivity in pursuit of long-term goals.
  • Decision Making & Problem Solving, determines the effectiveness of the leader and his team by eliminating a repetition of errors and focus on high priority activities.
  • Team Building, the art of molding a diverse group of individuals into a smoothly functioning unit focusing on attaining measured results consistent with organizational goals. 
  • Big Picture Thinking, or the ability to see the potential and objectives of the organization as a whole as well as understanding the importance of relationships with other teams and customers in achieving that capability.

Effective Management Development

Effective Management Development is a process designed to teach managers how to generate, sustain and utilize motivation to achieve organizational and personal goals.  The program’s unique methods provide a valuable resource for developing skills and reinforcing productive attitudes.  Through the goal setting process, even veteran managers will give new enthusiasm to their efforts and become more effective.  EMD also guides the manager to achieve improved results through employees by improving communications and human relations skills.  Topics covered during the 12-week program include:

  • Becoming an Effective Manager.  Every manager is concerned about two types of results: personal success and success of the organization.  The purpose of a manager is to achieve results through the activities of other people, as a developer, leader and builder of a team.
  • The Power of Goal Setting.  Goal setting and achievement is the single most powerful action in the development of leadership ability and skill as an effective motivational manager.  Success demands proactive action and decisions consistent with the organizational goals and objectives.
  • Developing a Positive Self-Image.  The self-image of a manager/leader determines, to a large extent, the level of success that will be achieved.  The more positive the self-image, the higher the expectation of achievement and personal capacity.
  • Understanding Human Behavior.  In today’s rapidly changing environment, pressures for improved performance impact every level of business activity.  The ability of organizational leaders to understand human behavior, motivation and actions becomes critical.  The investment of time and effort can pay dividends in reducing employee turnover, identifying motivational methods, improving productivity and creativity.
  • Methods of Motivation.  Managers fill many different types of positions and perform widely diverse functions.  But the chief task is to motivate people who will turn their skill and effort to achieve goals to benefit the organization.  Three types of motivation, and their long term impacts, are discussed.
  • Maximizing Personal Productivity.  Maintaining a motivational climate sets the scene for maximizing the potential of the people who compose the organization.  The most effective impact a manager can have on the profitability of anorganization comes through maximizing the effectiveness of people.  Subjects discussed include delegating with a purpose, training for growth and renewal, tracking performance and providing feedback.
  • Making Stress work for you.  The effective manager uses stress as a constructive force rather than allowing it to become a destructive force.  Used in a positive way, stress inspires people to act, to achieve, and to exceed previous goals.  Subjects discussed include managing by goals, identifying priorities, preventing burnout, keeping perspective and maintaining contact with supervisors.
  • Achieving Results through Communication & Persuasion.  Human behavior experts say that the most universal need is to understand...and be understood.  Consequently, skillful communication serves the purpose of effective motivational management - to achieve results through the activities of people.  Items covered in this section include communicating your message, verbal and written communication techniques, giving orders and instructions, and the power of persuasion.
  • Exercising Authority & Power Productively.  The authority and power of a manager’s position is supplemented by the authority of his/her personal competence and the power of his/her personality.  Authority implies the right to direct the efforts of the group.  Power is based on the relationship managers develop with their people.  Topics discussed include sharing power, understanding your resources and using power effectively.
  • Decision Making & Problem Solving.  While effective managers may differ in style, they all share the ability to make sound decisions, to gain acceptance for their decisions and to implement them successfully to solve problems.  Items covered include goals as the basis for decisions, the problem solving process, and adding creativity to solve problems.
  • Handling & Preventing People Problems.  Changes and adjustments are necessary whenever people work together.  Solving problems offers immense personal satisfaction and professional benefits.  Topics covered include motivational discipline, grievance procedures, and strategies for helping people.

 

Effective Organizational Leadership

Effective Organizational Leadership is a 12 – week program focusing on the development of an organization through the process of accessing strengths, opportunities and dangers...as well as improving the leadership skill set for accomplishing what matters most.  Covered during the program are topics including:

  • Developing A Positive Self-Image.  Although no two leaders are identical in personality or style, they all do share the characteristic of a positive self image.  Individuals with a positive self image possess the inner strength and courage required for self-respect and self confidence.  Topics covered in this section include the courage to act, overcoming negative attitudes, and creating a positive self image.
  • The Purpose of a Leader.  The position of leader requires the ability to work with and through other people.  Leaders who work most effectively with and through other people produce the most outstanding results.  Items covered in this chapter include developing a leadership philosophy, characteristics of effective leadership, and the rewards of effective leadership.
  • Goal Setting & Organizational Success.  Goal setting is the most powerful tool at the disposal of the leader in developing his/her organization.  The attainment of goals brings to life a sense of order and purpose that sustains desire and motivation for greater achievement over a long period of time.  Topics covered here include committing to organizational goals, establishing priorities, and making workable and achievable plans.
  • Human Behavior & Motivation.  The chief responsibility of any leader is to motivate people who will use their skills and effort to achieve goals of the organization.  The operative motivation.   Different styles of motivation are reviewed, with rewards and dangers discussed for each.  Also covered are issues around understanding human behavior, recognizing behavior styles and establishing a motivational climate for greatest productivity.
  • Maximizing Productivity.  Maintaining a motivational climate sets the scene for maximizing the talents and abilities of the individuals who compose the organization.  The most effective impact a leader can make on the bottom line comes through helping team members develop and utilize more of their full potential.  Subjects covered in this section include delegating with a purpose, training for growth and renewal, integrating personal and organizational goals and tracking performance.
  • Minimizing Stress.  Effective leaders can use stress as a constructive force rather than allowing it to become a destructive one.  Indeed, constructive stress inspires people to act, to achieve, and to utilize more of their full potential for success.  Items covered in the area of stress include making stress work for you, managing by goals, identifying priorities, preventing burnout and keeping perspective during difficult times.
  • Communication - The Human Connection.  Skillful communication is the essential human connection.  Using constructive communication and persuasion saves time and effort, encourages cooperation and reduces stress and friction.  These skills are essential in handling and preventing crisis situations, fostering self-esteem, generating mutual respect, increasing productivity and enriching relationships.  Covered in this section include planning the total message, communicating verbally, listening for the total message, writing effectively, giving instructions and the power of persuasion.
  • Using Power & Authority Effectively.  Empowerment means not so much giving people power but recognizing the power they have and unleashing it to help the organization operate more effectively.  To maximize empowerment of people, the need to use power and authority skillfully is greater than ever.  Readings in this section include making the most of power & authority, sharing power with team members, and enjoying the benefits of leadership.
  • Decision Making & Problem Solving.  All effective leaders share the ability to make sound decisions, to gain acceptance of their decisions, and to implement them successfully to solve problems.  Good human-relations skills and conscientious effort are essential in this area.  Also covered are topics that include goals as the basis of decisions, the problem-solving process, and using creativity to solve problems.
  • Empowering People.  Empowered employees release their potential for the benefit of the successful completion of the organization’s goals.  Essential factors include selecting the right person for a particular job, training that person well and providing other resources needed to do the job as required.  Topics covered include creating a motivational climate, keys to increasing productivity and principals of effective team member development
